SEO Tools for Success
So you've built your website, and it's up. Great! But, do you have the right SEO tools for success? Let's do an exercise - take a few moments to consider the answer to these questions:
- How many people visit your site each day?
- Where do they come from?
- Which keywords do they use?
- What's the conversion rate for your keywords?
- What pages are you ranking on in Google? Bing? Yahoo?
- What's your keyword strategy?
- Where else have you listed your business online?
- Do you have a Google Business Page?
- What's your current bounce rate?
- Are your Titles and Meta Descriptions appropriate in length?
Whether you run a Yoga Studio, or you're selling purses, you need to know the answers to these questions in order to run a successful business. If you have Squarespace (paid) then a lot of this is already baked in for you. But are you using it correctly?
Whether you're using Wordpress, Squarespace, Weebly, or Wix, it will help you understand your traffic if you set up Google Search Console and Google Analytics. This will show you how to use them to read your data. If Google Analytics seems too daunting, then at least set you up on Google Search Console so you can see how people are getting to your site and where you're ranked for different keywords.
Are you trying to figure out how your site looks on Google? That's easy! Go to Google and type in what's called a "site operator." Here's an example of site:really-affordable-seo.com :
For your site, you'll type in site:mysite.com - make sure you do it with no spaces! This will show you immediately how many pages google has indexed from your site and exactly what they look like in search.
Are some of your Titles too long? Or appear too short? Do you think your meta descriptions might need a call to action, but you're worried about cramming too many words in? If so, use our easy Meta Description and Page Title Counter tool to help organize your thoughts.
What about Keywords? How do you know which keywords to use? KEI's are a bit of a science, but if you're trying to figure out which keywords to use and how many people search them every month, we really enjoy using UberSuggest.org.
If you're trying to figure out which keywords your competition are targeting, you can use the site operator above (just type in your competitor's website), or try SEMRush.com to spy on your competitors.
